Declarations and position statements from our group

Prior to the 5th World Parks Congress in Durban, South Africa in 2003, members of the Mountain PA Network gathered at Didima Camp in the Drakensberg region of Kwa-Zulu Natal for a multi-day workshop. We took informative field trips, collaborated on publications, and discussed ways to protect mountain areas of the world.

At the end of the workshop, part of our group hiked to a high plateau while across the valley the others climbed to the top of Sentinel Peak to proclaim the need for international cooperation to preserve mountain regions of the world. At the summit they issued this declaration:
