Mountains Network conferences continue to produce important new books covering mountain management and protection issues

New books for 2006

A new book on the subject of Large Scale Conservation Connectivity (Conservation Corridors) Management is currently in development by the Network, and will be published in 2006. It will be one of the outputs from our Mountain Conservation Connectivity Management Workshop that will take place in Quito, Ecuador, 14-17 November 2006. Transboundary Conservation: A New Vision for Protected Areas

Stunningly illustrated, this book represents the work of fifty conservationists, scientists, and professional photographers, including several of our Mountain PA Network members.

This book focuses on 29 transboundary parks around the world, from the El Carmen-Big Bend in North America to Southern Africa's Kavango-Zambezi "Four Corners" Transboundary Conservation Area. It explores the history and increasing popularity of protecting some of the most biologically rich territory on Earth. This book can be purchased from Conservation International.

Guías para la Planificacion y el Manejo de las Areas Protegidas de Montana

The Spanish Edition was translated by Ms. Elena Sarmiento, with Mountain PA Network member Dr. Fausto Sarmiento serving as science advisor. Both teach at the University of Georgia in the USA. This edition was published in 2004 and is available from IUCN Publications.

Russian Edition

The Russian Edition was translated by Mountain PA Network member Dr. Yuri P. Badenkov and published in 2005. It is available through Dr. Badenkov at the Institute of Geography, Russian Academy of Science.
